STEP BY STEP

Let's make something delicious.

  1. 01

Preheat the oven to 160°C fan (180°C conventional). Line the base of a springform tin with baking paper and grease the sides with butter.

  2. 02

Mix the flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add the sugar, eggs and butter and beat with an electric hand mixer until smooth. Transfer the batter to the prepared springform tin, level the surface and pre-bake on the middle shelf for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.

  3. 03

Wash and peel the apples, remove the stalks and cores, and cut the flesh into small cubes. Mix the vanilla custard powder with approx. 50 ml apple juice until smooth. Bring the remaining apple juice, sugar and cinnamon to the boil in a saucepan. Add the custard mixture and bring to the boil once, stirring continuously. Mix the hot custard with the diced apples and leave to cool slightly.

  4. 04

Spread the apple and custard mixture over the partially baked cake base and level the surface. Bake on the middle shelf for a further 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool overnight. Remove from the springform tin.

  5. 05

Whip the cream with an electric hand mixer until stiff, gradually sprinkling in the cream stabiliser and vanilla sugar as you whip. Spread the whipped cream over the apple layer, smooth the surface and dust with cocoa powder.
